Flash iPhone project stumbles: SDK insufficient

After Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen declared that the Flash development team were looking at the iPhone SDK with creating an Apple-specific version of the software, many assumed the launch of iPhone Firmware 2.0 would coincide with a Flash client appearing for download in the AppStore.  Sadly that may be further off than was thought: the company has had to release a qualifying statement explaining that, in its present structure at least, the SDK and, more so perhaps, the licencing structures

Apple are insisting on are not sufficient for an iPhone Flash player.

“Adobe has evaluated the iPhone SDK and can now start to develop a way to bring Flash Player to the iPhone. However, to bring the full capabilities of Flash to the iPhone Web-browsing experience we do need to work with Apple beyond and above what is available through the SDK and the current license around it” Adobe statement
