iPhone 2.0 featuring search functionality?

Scrolling through a list of by 1,200 contacts is a pain in the ass. It’s one feature that 1.1.4 firmware sorely miss. Come on Apple, what’s taking you so to implement search?

Neither Steve or Phil spoke of the feature at

the iPhone 2.0 SDK announcement, but thanks to blargkaboom’s finding, there’s a tip that we may see search in the upcoming firmware release. They noticed what appears to be a small search icon in the iPhone’s Contact application.
